The most memorable moments which we have experienced in Iceland are all connected with the wilderness. Nothing brings us more fun than hiking in Icelandic mountains. Away from civilization, where there is often no living spirit, you can feel the atmosphere of the island and fully immerse yourself in this unique space. Most importantly, you could wander around Iceland endlessly because there are countless hiking trails in every corner of the country.

Hiking brings another fantastic thing – camping in the wilderness. It’s a real treat for us. Looking for a good spot for pitching the tent, putting it up, and then listening to the blissful silence interrupted by the sounds of the birds or sheep. All these moments are simply priceless. When we are camping in September or October, there is another joy – waiting for the Northern Lights.

I took this photograph when we were impatiently waiting for this jaw-dropping phenomenon. Even though the aurora forecast was quite good, the Northern Lights didn’t spoil us that night. However, we weren’t disappointed, not at all. We’d never seen such a starry sky before. Just look at the Milky Way! And the shooting star!
