Scandinavian print of an old wooden Icelandic fishing boat, printed on archival quality fine art paper. This Icelandic print is available in two sizes: 50x70 and 30x40 (cm).
I took this photograph one early winter day in the East of Iceland in Seyðisfjörður. You can easily fall in love with Seyðisfjörður even before you get there. It’s located by a spectacular fjord and to get there you have to drive over an impressive mountain pass.
Winter comes to Seyðisfjörður early, sometimes in September. When we arrived there, the town had been recently covered in a fresh layer of snow. As for the beginning of winter, the frost was severe. Our thick layers of clothing didn’t help that much.

In spite of the cold, we did not think about returning to the cozy hotel room because the atmosphere in the town was really magical. Soon it would begin to dusk and the streets were completely deserted. It had just stopped snowing. The sidewalks were covered with a thick layer of ice, so the ordinary walk resembled slow creeping.
With each of our cautious steps, the town revealed more and more secrets that only we had witnessed. We stopped for a while on the shore, where a few fishing boats were moored. One of them looked especially impressive. We couldn’t take our eyes off an old traditional Icelandic wooden fishing vessel. The surface of the water resembled a mirror. Looking at this view, we knew that we would come back here more than once, and definitely in winter.

Portrait of Adam Biernat, photographer
Hi! My name is Adam Biernat. I am a Polish photographer fascinated by the far North. I studied architecture and history of art.
I have lived for over two years in Iceland and a year in Norwegian Lapland, in a tiny village almost 500 km north of the Arctic Circle. Right now I am based in Poland but I travel to the northern regions a few times a year. I especially love to take pictures when most people put their cameras in their bags –  when it’s rainy and foggy. I am a finalist of Prix de la Photographe Paris, Debuts and Pomeranian Art Triennale among others.

Archival paper

We control every step of creating the print to make sure that it meets the highest quality standards. We know how important are all, even the tiniest details. For creating the prints we use quality fine art matt paper – Ilford Fine Art Smooth (200 gsm). It is acid-free archival cellulose paper with a smooth, warm tone surface. Photographs printed on this paper come out perfectly sharp with excellent details and natural colours.

Archival inks

We use one of the best archival inks available on the market – Epson UltraChrome® HDR. These inks in combination with our chosen paper guarantee outstanding colour reproduction, smooth gradations and fantastic details both in the shadows and in the lights.

Display permanence

This print meets high archival standards and it will not start to fade or change its colours for many decades. Remember to use only acid-free materials when mounting and framing the print. And handle the print with care, as fine art paper is vulnerable to scratches.
